The Cycle of Change - What Season Are You In?

The Cycle of Change – I’m curious to know What season are you in?

I love this time of year. I work out all year round in the gym. In the winter or in bad weather,  I also love to walk indoors. This time of the year, I love being outdoors. I am in my happy place when I am in nature. I walk on average 5 miles a day. This week on one of my walks, I thought to myself what if  the seasons are actually a visual reflection of the cycles we have in life?

Spring is beautiful for most people, unless you have allergies. My view of spring is that it’s a time for reflection healing and renewal. As I was walking this week, I noticed all of the beautiful spring flowers that are blooming. Just two weeks ago, there was hardly any signs of greenery, but you could tell it was coming. The change was coming. Spring feels like a reflection of the seasons in our lives, where we are preparing for something beautiful. We are shedding the things in our past that did not serve us, and planning a new bloom or a new direction. In this phase, we should focus on what our values are and what we really need in this season of life. In this season of spring, we start to focus on ourselves. After understanding what we really want, we then can start to get excited about new possibilities by aligning our intentions to our values. You’re ready to find your purpose. You may start to experiencing some fear of what’s next, but you know you can you start to make a significant change. What’s important in the spring season is that you start somewhere. It’s ok to feel fear, but you don’t have to be fearful. Keep pushing forward!

Summer is a time of action. The weather is warmer, the sun is out longer, and it feels great. You’ve moved past the stage of inward reflection, and now you’re ready to take action. This is an exciting time. You’re confident knowing that a great opportunity is ready for you. In this season, your motivation is high and you create plans to excel. Your thoughts are not just inward and reflective, but you start looking outward and researching the “what and how”. There may be a bit of reluctance or even anxiety that creeps in, but in this phase, it’s critical to keep your eyes on the prize and visualize what success can look like.

The next season is fall. This season is beautiful. We see the vibrant changes in nature. We experience warm days, and refreshingly cool nights. We feel good. In life, this is the time to be present in the moment and attain high levels of success and joy. You feel like you don’t want this happiness or success to end. Your thoughts may be consumed with, “how do I keep this going?” As a result of your aversion to anything inhibiting your happiness, you may start to ignore signs that things are not going as well as you’d like, and you end up coasting, just going along for the sake of getting along. You may feel fulfilled, but subconsciously, fear is creeping back. Because of your fear of things going ,awry, you may not be as focused in your planning and attention to detail. You could very well be what’s getting in your way of getting back on track. The critical step here is to understand how true your feelings are, and focus on the opportunities as opposed to the obstacles.

The last season is winter. Winter is cold, nature starts to die around us, and it feels like a loss. It feels like a season of mourning…the end of something. In this season of life, people tend to feel like they are at the effect of live, as opposed to at the cause. It feels like life is happening to us, and we have no control. This can lead to isolation, mourning what was lost, and a lack of taking action. This is a period where we may start to think that nothing will ever work out for us, and something is always standing in our way. It’s important to remember that it’s normal for people to feel this way, and it’s ok to feel, but start getting curious about how true these feelings are. Can you look at the situation thru a different lens? What are the opportunities in this situation. It’s ok to mourn. It’s ok to vent. We all go thru the Winter season. We all go thru unexpected changes. Spring is coming. If you’re stuck in the Winter season, let’s talk about how we can work together to create space for you to overcome what has passed, and find opportunity for the future.
